Begbies Traynor Expands Services in South West

Recovery and restructuring firm Begbies Traynor is expanding its services to businesses and individuals in the South West with the appointment of Shaun Walbridge to head up a new division of BTG Forensic.

BTG Forensic is the specialist forensic accounting, financial investigation and valuation arm of Begbies Traynor Group.  The new Division will be based at the Exeter office, and will cover all Begbies’ existing offices in the region, from Plymouth to Southampton, and including Cardiff.  It has been set up in direct response to the increased demand for forensic accounting services within the region.  The other BTG Forensic offices are in London, Manchester and Leeds, reinforcing the importance of the South West within the Group.

Shaun Walbridge is a Chartered Certified Accountant who has spent 10 years running his own boutique Forensic Accounting practice in the South West.  In that capacity he has built up a strong reputation in the financial investigative aspects of commercial litigation, personal injury and fatal accident cases, medical and professional negligence, matrimonial, fraud and criminal activity.

He also brings significant experience as an Expert Witness and accredited Mediator; he is a founder member of the Association of South West Mediators and assisted in the establishment of the Exeter Court Mediation Scheme. He is also a member of the Civil Mediation Council.

Shaun commented; “With the current economic climate, the need for forensic accounting and investigatory services is greater than ever, particularly for those companies now facing difficult trading conditions.  The opportunities for wrongful and fraudulent trading are greatly increased, and it will be necessary for directors and shareholders to exercise greater vigilance over the financial controls within their companies.  In addition, since the introduction of the Proceeds of Crime Act in 2002, the demand for experts with significant expertise and experience in dealing with fraud and crime has grown year on year.”
